Regional Requirements for Card Present

The Getnet Global API supports Card Present (CP) transactions across multiple countries in Latin America. While the API structure is unified, each country has specific requirements for currency, installment plans, and regulatory compliance. This document outlines the regional variations you must account for in your integration.

Supported Regions

Card Present transactions are available in the following countries:

The currency field in the API request must always use the ISO 4217 alphabetic code (CLP, ARS). The amount field is always expressed in the smallest currency unit (cents).

Feature Availability by Country

Not all Card Present features are available in every country. Use the matrix below to determine what your integration must support per region:

The installment quotes endpoint (POST /v2/payments/quotes) is only available for Argentina and Chile. Merchants in Mexico must use pre-negotiated installment plans without querying for dynamic quotes.

Cashout: Purchase with cash withdrawal is only available in Argentina. It accepts DIRECT_DEBIT with a domestic debit or domestic prepaid card, read by chip or chip_contactless. See Create a Single-Step Card Present Payment and Cancel a Card Present Payment.

Currency Requirements

The data.currency field is mandatory for all Card Present payment requests. Always use the ISO 4217 alphabetic code matching the country where the terminal is registered:

Installment Plans by Country

Installment behavior varies significantly by country. The plan schema and type returned by the quotes endpoint (or pre-configured in your integration) determine how the card network settles the transaction.

Argentina

Argentina uses the Plan Ahora government-sponsored installment program.

Chile

Chile uses issuer-managed installment plans (plan_emisor).

Mexico

Mexico does not support the dynamic installment quotes endpoint. Use the transaction_type field directly in the payment request:

PIN Validation Requirements by Country

Online PIN validation is mandatory in certain countries for specific transaction types. Ensure your terminal is configured accordingly:
